Jonas Emre is an Associate Lawyer at SM Legal and a McGill alumnus, having practiced in civil and common law jurisdictions. His practice touches various branches of law including legal transactions related to general corporate law, employment and commercial contract disputes, corporate reorganizations, and shareholder agreements. Jonas has a solid academic background, holding two LLM degrees, and is currently a PhD Candidate at the United Nations University for Peace.

Before being called to the Ontario bar, Jonas acted as a Legal Counsel for a series of private companies and governmental organizations covering the industries of real estate, and public international law, with a focus on the law of the sea. He has published a book and a number of articles on public international law in peer-reviewed journals. His most recent research was published in the Canadian Yearbook of International Law on November 16, 2020, entitled “Developments in Maritime Delimitation Law over the Last Decade: Emerging Principles in Modern Case Law”.
